Monday Catch Up

Monday Catch Up with 78thStitch

It’s Monday, I’m feeling like my old self again and I felt it was time to catch up with what I’m doing. It’s surprising how work-in-progress posts remind you about a project you’d forgotten about! So, grab your camera, your WIPs and completions and come and share with me!

Since my last post, I have made no progress whatsoever with the cabled crosses afghan, or the lacy chevron shawl/scarf. This is because I have been unable to procure any more of the yarns I was using. I may start again with different yarns, but I’m still thinking that over.

However, I have made my crochet-selfie:

You will probably have noticed that I have changed my profile picture across the web. When the weather cheers up a bit, I’ll get hubby to take a photo of me so I can show you a comparison.

I also made myself a new scarf:

The pattern for this scarf is from issue 15 of Simply Crochet and I have had comments from people saying how great the scarf is! I love it – it is so warm and snuggly!

I have also started two new projects. The first is a blanket for the Little Man. He chose a round blanket in tapestry crochet and I have already made some notable progress:

Despite a number of froggings and restarts, I am actually enjoying this blanket! The pattern is called Desert Sunrise and is from Unexpected Afghans by Robyn Chachula

I also fell in love with the biker jacket in issue 14 of Simply Crochet and yesterday I made a start on it. I haven’t got very far with it yet, since I spent four hours yesterday afternoon re-working the pattern because I’m using King Cole Fashion Aran and couldn’t get the tension to match the pattern. The Debbie Bliss yarn used in the magazine just isn’t in our price-range so I needed to substitute.

The whole jacket is worked in double crochet through the front loop and I am enthralled by it.

What are you up to at the moment? Any new starts or recent completions? Do leave a comment below and share a link to your post (not the blog please – just the actual post!) and I promise to come and have a look. If you’re lucky, you’ll even get mentioned in a new post coming up; Inspire-Me Wednesdays.
